Pre-Engineering Mini Camp Offered at Assabet Valley

May 16th, 2008

This July, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School will be offering a Pre-Engineering Mini Camp for interested 11-14 year old area students. There will be two identical sessions offered during the week of July 14-18, one session from 8-11 AM and the other from 12-3 PM with a cost of only $100 for either session. Campers will explore the dynamic field of engineering with two nationally certified teachers, using state of the art equipment. Projects will be fun and hands on, giving students the opportunity to learn valuable problem solving skills, project management, and hear from a panel of various engineering professionals. The campers will constantly be actively engaged in getting a taste of the world of engineering.
Interested applicants must register by mail, fax, or in person at the school, and class sizes are limited. No phone registrations will be accepted. Call Alyssia Bisol at 508-485-9430, ext. 430, or email her at abisol@assabet.org, to have an application mailed to you, or pick one up at the school at 215 Fitchburg Street, Marlborough. Application requests may also be faxed to 508-303-8493.
Registrations will be processed in the order received, so don’t delay.
“Read any trade journal and you’ll see that there is a shortage of qualified engineers in America. By exposing students at a younger age to the advantages and challenges of engineering, Assabet Valley hopes to spark an interest that will lead to a career in an engineering field. And they’ll have fun and meet new people at the same time” says Bisol, the coordinator of the program at Assabet.
