To provide 24-hour access to the resources of the Assabet Library. To ensure that all students and staff have this opportunity to access, evaluate and use every available resource for information.
Monday and Friday 7:45am to 2:45pm., Tuesday through Thursday 7:45am to 4:00 p.m.
The library, within the school on Fitchburg Street, is open 5 days a week throughout the school year. It is closed on weekends and school vacations. Special opportunities: The library is open 3 afternoons a week, (Tue.-Thurs.) as a homework center ( 2:45-4:00). Homework coaches are also available during this time.
The library media center has over 14,000 books in its collection. It provides access to 4 online Databases and 1 online Encyclopedia (Grolier). It also subscribes to 30 print periodicals, many of which are vocationally related. A generous collection of Videos and DVDs are available for teachers to borrow to enhance their classroom curriculums. *Please note* All online databases are available outside of school. You will need your library card number or a username and password. Consult the library brochure at the circulation desk or ask your Librarian!
The online school catalog for Assabet is Destiny. You can always view Assabet's library catalog at home with an Internet connection.
Books at Assabet may be borrowed for up to three weeks and may be renewed if not on reserve for another student. The books are checked out at the circulation desk. Periodicals do not leave the library. The library does not charge fines for late books. Reminders are sent to homeroom teachers. If a book is not returned within a reasonable amount of time, a detention will be issued from the office of the Academic Dean.Students will be charged for the replacement cost for lost books .
Reserved Class Library Time: Teachers should reserve the library and the computer labs in the calender books at the circulation desk. Teachers are asked to discuss any assignments and expectations with the librarian and how the librarian may best help the teachers and students find the necessary resources to meet their specific needs.
