The baseball season comes to an end with a tough loss to Northbridge at Hudson High. The team lost 3-1 and had a chance to to tie the game (bases loaded with 1 out) but it wasn't meant to be. Tom Walsh was great on the mound (7IP, 0 ER) to end a great season. Jake Yanchewski and Pat Lichwell had big hits to keep the rally going. Thanks for all the support and thank you to a very special team.

The Aztecs get home late from a long day in Devens, Ma. In the double header against Parker, the Aztecs take care of business with a 16-3 win in game 1 and 7-2 victory in game 2. The team improves to 12-6 on the year (winning 7 in a row) which is the second best record in the past 15 years at the school. Check the highlights above from the games.

Sweet revenge!! The Aztecs make it 6 in a row with a big win over division III power, Douglas. Douglas beat us 8-2 earlier in the year and the Aztecs were looking to even the series. Tom Walsh was sensational on the mound (CG, 6hits) and the defense was errorless. Big plays made by Will Brodeur, Ryan McKnight and Matt Rucho. Santo made the last out of the game. Rucho was the hero with the bat, hitting a 2 out 2 RBI double in the 4th to score McNair and Brodeur. The Aztecs look to sweep the double header today.

The Aztecs put their dancing shoes on today as we qualify for district play! In a tough match up against rival Monty Tech the Aztecs won a hard fought battle 4-1. Ryan McKnight singled home Josh Moylan in the first and Moylan scored again in the third for the winning run. Moylan had 3 SB's and 3 runs on the day to go along with his 2 hits. McKnight and McNair also had multi hit games. McNair was up to the challenge on the mound, again going the distance to earn his 3rd win of the season on the mound. Matt Rucho was solid as usual and the outfield (Dudley, Moylan) made some real nice plays. The coaches are very proud of what we have accomplished so far this season and hope it continues. Senior day is tomorrow!

JV's lose a heartbreaker today, 10-9. Down 10-0 the scrappy Aztecs battle all the way back to fall short of a victory. They look to rebound with a win against Douglas Wednesday.

                                  May 17

The Aztecs won their third game in as many days with a victory over rival Keefe Tech, 3-1. Pat Lichwell picks up the win on the mound. Zach Downing tied the game in the 3rd to score Josh Moylan and Matt Rucho had the game winning hit to score John Stake in the 4th. Corey McNair and Jake Yanchewski had extra base hits on the day. The team improves to 8-6.

                                May 16

The Aztecs rode the arm of left hander Tom Walsh to a 5-2 victory over Nashoba Tech today. Tommy won his 4th game of the season with a complete game effort (5hits, 6K's, 1 ER). Matt Rucho called a good game and the defense was solid again today. Pat Lichwell led the way with three hits (1RBI) and Zach Downing added 2 hits and an RBI. "Chew" was beaned twice today (just ask him, he'll tell u!) and John Stake came off the bench to score a big run in the top of the 7th. The team looks to keep it going against Keefe Tech tomorrow in Framingham.

                                 May 15

Big win for the Aztecs today over Worcester Tech! We jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning but Worc came back in the third to tied the score 2-2. With the score deadlocked, Corey McNair unleashed a bases clearing triple in the 4th inning to make it 5-2 and the Aztecs held on for a 6-3 win. Will Brodeur had two big RBI's on the day (FC, triple) and McNair had 3 hits. The story of the day was defense and pitching as McNair went the distance for his second win of the year and the defense was flawless behind him. Chew, Moylan, McKnight and Frascolla also had big contributions on the day. The team takes on Nashoba Tech tomorrow away.

                                 May 10

Aztecs fall to Baypath in the bottom of the 7th on a suicide squeeze. 4-3 in the top of the 7th, the Aztecs took the lead (5-4) on a Jake Yanchewski double to score two. With one out and noone on Baypath hit a a single and triple off of Corey Mcnair and then with one out a perfect squeeze play was put on and wasn't executed correctly by the Aztecs. The team falls to 5-6 and hopes to rebound today against Worcester Tech

                                May 8

Errors and shaky starting pitching were the Aztecs demise yesterday against BVT. Up 3-0 after one inning, the Aztecs stumbled in the third and was never able to recover. Josh Moylan was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 SB's.

                               May 4

The varsity team won their third in a row with a 7-2 defeat over Monty Tech. Corey McNair returned to the lineup in a thunderous way. He pitched 7 innings of fantastic baseball, striking out 8 and allowing only 1 ER. Corey also led the offense with a 3-3 day (triple, double, single) and 3 RBI. Matt Rucho came up big with a two out, 3 run single in the 6th to make the score 7-1 at the time scoring McNair, Walsh and Frascolla from first. The team looks to avenge an earlier loss to BVT on Monday at home.

                                    May 2

The varsity team clawed their way back to a .500 record (4-4) with a gutsy win over Keefe Tech at home yesterday. Down 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, the team rallied to claim victory by a score of 5-4. With one out Zach Downing singled to center, stole 2B and moved to 3B on a Ryan McKnight infield single. McKnight stole 2B and Jake Yanchewski was intentionally walked to set up a force play. Up came Will Brodeur who hit a hard ground ball between short and 2B that was mishandled and both Downing and McKnight scored for the walk-off win! Tom Walsh settled down after some early jitters and earned his third win of the season on the mound. Pat Lichwell hit a double and reached base all three times.

                                  April 30

The varsity squad earns a 9-1 win over league opponent Nashoba Tech at home. Senior Pat Lichwell was brilliant on the mound, earning his first win of the season. Kevin Kirley and the long awaited return of Junior Captain Corey McNair pitched the last two innings of relief. Matt Rucho had 2 RBI's on the day and Zach Downing and Jake Yanchewski each contributed two hits. Josh Moylan reached base three times, scored twice and made an ESPN highlight film catch in the cement gully, one of the best catches Assabet has ever seen. Kenny Charbs made his debut at 1B and his sidekick Ryan Rivera looked smooth at 2B. The team plays Keefe at home on Wed.
