Drafters are planners for the design, manufacturing and construction industries. They create technical drawings and plans required to produce parts and communicate ideas. They use a universal graphic language to transform these ideas into useful products.
The Assabet Valley Drafting program is designed to prepare students for excellent entry-level positions in a professional environment. These would include the machine, architectural, electromechanical and other related fields. The program also prepares students to continue their training at the college level. The Drafting program has an engaging curriculum with project-based work and has been nationally certified by the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA).
Students also have the opportunity to earn college credits at Mass Bay Community College, Quinsigamond Community College, Massasoit Community College, and Wentworth Institute of Technology (see highlights section), as well as take part in the cooperative employment program. Students will be trained in the following areas while using state of the art facilities and software.
