The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six- week timeframe using a standard "kit of arts" and common set of rules. Teams design and build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of competitions designed by engineering professionals. The competition has grown to including over 1000 teams form across the country competing in many Regional Events, and a National Championship Event.
