Assabet Valley has implemented a computerized pre-paid meal system in our cafeteria. 

Features

• Allows students to pre-pay for breakfast, lunch, and snacks eliminating the need for cash
• Creates an individual account for each student which is accessible with their personal 5-digit PIN
• Eliminates “identification” of students on free and reduced price lunch
• Creates a record of all student purchases for the year

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I get free or reduced price lunches. Can I still use this system?

A. Yes.  Students who get free or reduced price lunches will simply type in their 5-digit PIN into the keypad. The system will indicate your free or reduced price status.

Q. How can I pre-pay for lunches or ala carte items?

A. Simply bring cash to the register and the cashier will credit your individual account.

Q. Can I use a check to pre-pay for meals?

A. Yes. Checks must be brought to the cafeteria for deposit in the morning before school begins.  Please know that in addition to any of your own bank charges for insufficient funds, the district will also have a $25 fee to anyone who writes a check with insufficient funds.

Q. What happens to the balance on my account at the end of the school year?

A.  All balances on account will be carried forward to the next school year.  Refunds are not issued.

Q. I am a “full-pay” student do I still use a PIN number to make purchases?

A. Yes.  ALL students must use their PIN to make all purchases.

Q. What happens to my balance if I move or transfer to another school?

A. Only balances with more than $10 will be refunded upon completing a request form.  All other balances must be used prior to un-enrolling.

Q. What if another student learns my PIN number?

A. Every time you enter your PIN number your school photo appears on the cash register touchscreen.  Cashiers will ensure the photo matches the purchaser.  Any student attempting to defraud the system will be disciplined for theft per the Student Handbook.
